The EWHL playoffs open on Friday at 15:00 with MAC Budapest hosting HK PSRZ Bratislava. Bratislava finished the regular season in fourth place, while Budapest placed sixth. The two regular-season meetings between these teams could hardly have been more dramatic: Bratislava won both games, once in overtime and once in a shootout. The return leg will be played on Sunday in Bratislava.

The playoffs begin for the runners-up Sabres St. Pölten at 19:30, as they travel to Salzburg. The Lower Austrian side topped the regular-season standings and now aim to extend last season’s playoff run by at least one more game in this year’s postseason. The first meeting between the two teams this season was a clear win for the Sabres, while the second clash saw the Eagles push the game into overtime. The second leg will take place on Sunday in St. Pölten.

The KSV Highlanders will host EVB Eagles South Tyrol in another quarterfinal matchup. The Highlanders finished the regular season in fifth place, while the Eagles claimed third. Both regular-season meetings went to the Eagles, although each required either overtime or a shootout to decide the winner. The second leg will be played in Bolzano on Sunday and will be broadcast LIVE on Sporteurope.TV.

The Villach Lady Hawks, competing in their debut EWHL season, secured seventh place in the regular season and have now reached the quarterfinals. However, a tough challenge awaits the Carinthian side, as they face the defending EWHL champions Aisulu Almaty. The Lady Hawks were unable to pick up a win against Aisulu in their two regular-season meetings. Nevertheless, Villach enter the postseason with confidence – Friday’s game, starting at 20:15, will be broadcast LIVE on Sporteurope.TV. The return leg on Sunday will take place in Kapfenberg.
