The Erste Bank Eishockey League season 2017/18 came to an end with HCB Südtirol Alperia winning the title for the second time after 2014. The Italians will celebrate their team at Piazza Walther in Bozen on Tuesday (18:00). The South Tyroleans made history this season: The Foxes have been the first club winning the Championship ranked on place 8 after the regular season. Bozen has successfully qualified for the Champions Hockey League season 2018/19 as well. Besides, EC Red Bull Salzburg and the Vienna Capitals will represent the Erste Bank Eishockey League in the Champions Hockey League 2018/19. The draw for the group stage will be done on Wednesday, May 16th 2018. The Champions Hockey League season will start on August 30th 2018.
 
Medvescak with good comeback
KHL Medvescak Zagreb has been an enrichment for the Erste Bank Eishockey League. The Croatians reached the Top 6 and the Playoffs in their comeback-season.
 
1.228.596 fans in the areans
In total 1.228.596 fans have seen 366 Erste Bank Eishockey League-games in the areans 2017/18, on average 3.357 spectators per game. Most attended have been  the home-games of EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz, in total 156.345 fans have watched the home-games of the Upper Austrians. Over 100.000 fans have attended the home-games of EV Vienna Capitals (154.737), KHL Medvescak Zagreb (148.292), HCB Südtirol Alperia (132063), EC Red Bull Salzburg (104.782) and EC-KAC (102.987) as well! Besides, 186.526 fans out of 42 Playoffs games (on average: 4.441 fans per game) meaned a new milestone in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga history.

2.182 goals…
In total 2.182 goals have been netted by the twelve teams in 366 games, on average 5,96 goals per game. Most goals (260) have been potted by EC Red Bull Salzburg. Besides, EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz (240), Vienna Capitals (215) and HCB Südtirol Alperia (206) have netted more then 200 goals in the 2017/18-season as well.
The Vienna Capitals earned the biggest win 2017/18: The Austrians started the season with a 9:1-victory in Szekesfehervar. Vienna has set two other milestones as well: The Caps have won twelve straight games at the beginnning of the season and in total 25 consecutive games from last season until October 22nd 2018.
Most goals of the season (15) have been scored in the regular season match Moser Medical Graz99ers vs. HCB Südtirol Alperia on September 29th 2018 (round 7). The Styrians were successful against Bozen at home (8:7/SO).

Twelve Overtimes in the Playoffs
The Erste Bank Eishockey Liga season 2017/18 has been thrilling: 47% of all games ended by just one goal difference, in the Playoffs 22 out of 42 games (52,4%)! Besides, twelve out of 42 Playoff-games (29%) went into an Overtime. This meaned a new milestone.

EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz was the best team in Power Play (PP%: 24,5) and had the best scoring efficiency (10,66%) as well. Champion HCB Südtirol Alperia was the best club in Penalty Killing (PK%: 85.2) and Moser Medical Graz99ers won the fair play statistics in the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga 2017/18 (PIM per GAME: 8.1).
 
The key-players
John Hughes of EC Red Bull Salzburg had most points (82) and most Assists (61) of the season. Brian Lebler of EHC LIWEST Black Wings Linz netted most goals (46). The best goalie was MacMillan Carruth of Fehervar AV19 with a save% of 92,7% and a GAA of 2.69. Most PIM (138) had Innsbruck‘s Jeremie Ouellet Blain. Vienna’s Tyler Vause had the best Plus Minus statistics (+34).
 
Asiago, Fehervar AV19 and Salzburg had reasons to celebrate as well
Bozen won the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga, but Asiago, Salzburg and Szekesfeherrvar had reasons to celebrate as well: Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey 1935 earned the title in the Alps Hockey League 2018. Fehervar AV19 earned the title in the Erste Bank Young Stars League (U20) and EC Red Bull Salzburg was successful in the Erste Bank Juniors League (U18).
