Fassa ousts Salzburg from Master Round positions on last matchday

Salzburg misses chance for Master Round
Before the last matchday in the first phase of the Regular Season, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors were still in sixth place in the table. However, Salzburg had to vacate their spot for the Master Round at the last moment as they suffered a 2:4 defeat against league leader HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice. After a balanced first period - both teams scored once each - the Slovenians went ahead 3:1. The Juniors came back but could not equalize. Jesenice finally made everything clear with an empty netter and starts into the Master Round with the maximum bonus of four points.

Bregenzerwald does not move up in the standings despite shutout win
EC Bregenzerwald won the last game of the Alps Hockey League with a 3:0 shutout victory against the Rittner Buam, but due to the simultaneous victory of the EK Zeller Eisbären they could not make a jump in the table. Led by the Bears' strong Vorarlberg netminder Felix Beck, Bregenzerwald prevailed 3-0. While Beck kept 43 shots on his box, the Wälder offense took advantage of their chances. The jump to ninth place in the table was still denied to EC Bregenzerwald. For the Vorarlberg team, it's now on to Qualification Round A with three bonus points. For the Buam, this was the first game of the season in which they did not manage to score a single goal. Nevertheless, they start the Master Round with two points.

Gherdeina secures maximum bonus haul for Qualification Round B
HC Gherdeina secured the top seed for Qualification Round B with an impressive 7-2 win over EC-KAC Future Team. While Gherdeina goes into the intermediate round with 5 points, the EC-KAC Future Team has to start the second phase empty-handed. Especially Brad Mc Gowan was able to put his stamp on the game and contributed a total of four goals. Marks Selan emerged as the top provider with four assists.

Feldkirch shoots itself for Qualification Round
BEMER VEU Feldkirch won 3:2 against the better placed Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, but could not improve their position in the standings. In an exciting encounter, the team from Vorarlberg had the better end for themselves. Julian Payr provided the decision in the 43rd minute. The Broncos continue their season in Qualification Round A with two bonus points. Feldkirch stands in Qualification Round B with no bonus points.

Fassa secures last place in Master Round
With nine wins in the last ten games, HC Fassa Falcons put together a worth seeing comeback in the Alps Hockey League and actually made it to the Master Round with their last win on Saturday. The Falcons closed the first phase of the Regular Season with a 6-1 victory over the Vienna Capitals Silver. Defender Eric Lindgren scored a hat trick and Davide Schiavone added a brace. The Vienna Capitals continue their season in Qualification Round B without bonus points.

Cortina wins ticket for the Master Round with a convincing victory
The S.G. Cortina Hafro fixed their participation in the Master Round with a sovereign success over the Steel Wings Linz. In the first period, the Upper Austrians were still able to hold up well. But in the middle period Cortina ignited the turbo and took a 4:1 lead. No further goals were scored in the final period.

Zeller Eisbären with feat of strength to four bonus points
The EK Zell Polar Bears celebrated a hard-fought shootout victory over second-place Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey. The result allowed the Polar Bears to climb to ninth place in the standings and earn four points towards Qualification Round B. For Asiago, the defeat has no impact. The Yellow and Reds continue their season in the Master Round with three bonus points. Salzburg got off to the better start in the match and jumped out to a 2-0 lead. Asiago equalized in the middle third. Zell went ahead once more, but the game went into overtime at 3:3. After the overtime was scoreless, Philip Putnik scored the deciding goal in the shootout.
