For both teams it was the second match within 24 hours. While Linz celebrated a success in Klagenfurt on Friday, Féhérvar had to admit defeat at home against Salzburg. On Saturday, the Hungarians started with a lot of pressure and Linz goalkeeper Rasmus Tirronen had to distinguish himself several times on his return to Székesfehérvár. But it was the visitors who had the biggest chance: After a capital mistake in the home side's defence, Shawn St-Amant ran alone on goal in a shorthanded situation, but was unable to beat Féhérvar goalkeeper Olivier Roy. In the following minutes, both teams had chances, but the Hungarians had more of the play and were able to celebrate for the first time in the 18th minute: Gergő Ambrus scored his first ICE goal with the backhand after an assist by Ben Betker. The home side doubled the lead in the middle period, with Andrew Sarauer (24th) reacting quickest to a rebound. But only four minutes later the Black Wings also got on the scoreboard. On a 2 on 1 counterattack, Stefan Gaffal cleverly delayed and finally finished himself. Especially the home side became dangerous again after that, but it remained at 2:1 after 40 minutes. In the final period, the Linzers were initially unable to make use of their second power play of the game, but the visitors were now the stronger team. St-Amant had another good chance but failed to score against Roy. In the final seconds, there was a lot of action in front of Féhérvar's goal, but with their combined efforts, the home side managed to hold on for the narrow victory. With the third win in a row against the Upper Austrians, the Hungarians moved up to sixth place in the table. The Black Wings, on the other hand, failed to extend their lead in the standings.
