The game started with chances from Fehervar, LoVecchio, then Erdély missed in the first minutes. The game went on in front of Rinne’s net, and after Macierzynski’s penalty, Koger and co.  was on the powerplay, without much success. Five on five the situation did not change, Fehervar dominated the game, Carruth’s first save was made 5 minutes before the end of the period, Haberl and Connelly both missed. Gilbert fouled and it seemed that Fehervar finishes the first 20 minutes one man less on ice but then McMonagle had to sit in the penalty box, too. Four on four D’Alvise and Connelly shot but Carruth saved. The second period started better for the guests, however, Fehervar scored, Áron Reisz put Luttinen’s pass in the net. Caruso and Arniel both could have answered with a goal, yet Carruth saved again. Stipsicz was the next in the penalty box, but Dornbirn missed all chances. In the middle of the period, Fehervar had another powerplay, and although Kóger, Erdély and Hári threatened, no goal was scored. In the following minutes, Carruth had to make great saves to avoid a goal. LoVecchio passed to Gilbert in a counterattack, but instead of scoring, Gilbert fouled. Fehervar had the puck more in the penalty killing, and the second period ended with Fehervar in the lead. The guests came out hard for the third period but were not able to score once again. In the 47th minute Daniel Koger fired from the blue line and Janos Hari deflected it to double the lead. Soon later Kevin Macierzynski put Dornbirn on the score board off a great pass by Stefan Häußle but it was not enough as Fehervar killed the clock successfully. The Hungarians won the first game of head coach Hannu Järvenpää.
