The Pioneers Vorarlberg made the race for the pre-playoffs exciting again with a 4:2 win in Vienna. Numerous blocked shots and intercepted passes laid the foundation for the third win of the season for the team from Feldkirch against Vienna. The visitors took the lead in the ninth minute: Orrin Centazzo scored the only goal in the first period after a fine assist from Roni Allén. In the middle frame, Jakob Friend added a second with a shot into the far corner. After the third goal by Daniel Woger (48.), the preliminary decision seemed to have been made, but the Caps fought their way back into the game. The home side scored twice - Krieger (57') and Franklin (58') - with six skaters on the ice, but Centazzo finally scored an empty netter to make it 4:2. The Pioneers thus reduced the gap in the table to the tenth-placed team from Vienna to seven points.

HC TIWAG Innsbruck showed a strong improvement less than 24 hours after the clear 2:8 defeat against Vienna in Szekesfehérvár on Saturday, but the bottom team was ultimately beaten 3:0 by the league leaders. Chase Berger put the home side ahead on the power play in the 18th minute. After his game-winner against the Pioneers yesterday, Trevor Cheek made it 2:0 in the middle period. Balazs Sebok made sure of the final score before the second period break. Goalie Dominik Horváth recorded his third shutout of the season.
