Fehérvár destroys Villach’s winning streak at five

On Friday Hydro Fehérvár AV19 inflicted a defeat on EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV after five wins in a row before, as the Hungarians turned around a two-goal deficit within 135 seconds. Meanwhile, HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie defended their lead in the win2day ICE Hockey League. HCB Südtirol Alperia and spusu Vienna Capitals both won without conceding a goal. Champion EC Red Bull Salzburg, which lost in Vienna, remained scoreless in the championship for the second time in a row. The Steinbach Black Wings Linz prevailed in the shootout despite a 2-0 lead.

On Saturday, the win2day ICE Hockey League continues with the game between HC Pustertal Wölfe and BEMER Pioneers Vorarlberg. The game will be broadcasted live on live.ice.hockey starting at 7.45 pm.

Hydro Fehérvár AV19 put an end to the winning streak of EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and claimed a 4-3 victory against the "Adler", which have won five games in a row lately. The Hungarians thus remain without defeat since the IIHF break, winning their fourth game straight. The home team easily made up for a Hari lead goal (29.) through Benjamin Lanzinger (30.) and a brace from defender Nicolas Rivett-Mattinen (40., 44.), before the guests went for a brilliant turnaround within 135 seconds: Janos Hari (47.), Anze Kuralt (49.) and Istvan Bartalis (49.) turned the game around for the runners-up. Hari (2G|1A) and Kuralt (1G|2A) each scored three points in the end.


Innsbruck remains on top

The league leader HC TIWAG Innsbruck - Die Haie did not show any weakness in the home game against HC Pustertal Wölfe and took revenge for the defeat in the first encounter of the season with a 5-3 victory. Tyler Coulter (3.) gave the "Haie" an early lead, they extended it to 5-1 until the middle of the final period, before the guests came close in the final phase. Corey Mackin contributed two goals and an assist to the third HCI win in a row. The Tyroleans have always scored at home in their last seven games.

Bolzano and Vienna cheer shutout wins each
HCB Südtirol Alperia and the spusu Vienna Capitals remained without conceding a goal on Friday evening: The South Tyrolean team won 1:0 at EC-KAC, thanks to a powerplay deflection by Brad McClure (31./PP1). For the second in standings it was a win again after two defeats lately. Andreas Bernard saved all 32 shots on goal and recorded his second shutout in his seventh appearance of the season.

Bernhard Starkbaum celebrated his first shutout of the season in Vienna's 3-0 home win over EC Red Bull Salzburg. The veteran stopped 28 shots against the reigning champions, which remained scoreless in their second championship game in a row – on the road, the "Red Bulls" have even failed to score in their last three games. The spusu Vienna Capitals, with captain Mario Fischer making his comeback and Nils Granitz and Daniel Aschauer making their debuts, took the decision in the middle period, which Patrick Antal opened with an early powerplay goal (22./PP1) and Max Zimmer (34.) finished off after a good combination with Matt Bradley.

Linz secures it in shootout
The Steinbach Black Wings Linz returned to the winning ways, but won against HK SZ Olimpija only in the shootout with 3-2. The Upper Austrians were leading 2-0 after the first period and goals from Marco Brucker (9./PP1) and Brian Lebler (17.). But the "Dragons" bit their way back into the match and got the extra point. In the shootout, Graham Knott was the last shooter to score for Linz.
