Kevin Constantine succeeds Antti Karhula at Hydro Fehérvár AV19, and the 62-year-old American has a successful coaching career: Between 1993 and 2002, he was primarily a head coach in the NHL, coaching the San Jose Sharks, Calgary Flames, Pittsburgh Penguins and New Jersey Devils. The former goalie was the youngest head coach at the time in his first NHL season (93/94) and was nominated for the Jack Adams Coach of the Year Award. Following his stint in North America's best league, he coached teams in the WHL and AHL before accepting his first assignment in Europe in 2010 in Angers, France, from where he promptly moved in the NLA - and coached HC Ambri-Piotta for two years. After that, he headed back to the WHL and then to the Asia League for three complete seasons. In the past one, he coached in Poland.

"I could mention many reasons why I just chose Hydro Fehérvár AV19, but I would like to highlight one thing: Diego Scandella was the team's assistant coach at Ambri Piotta, he knows the league well, he knows Fehérvár also well and besides GM Viktor Szélig, he also had high opinion of the organization. I’ve been to the town before - I almost became the head coach of the team on one occasion in the past – as I visited my former player, Tyler Dietrich, but what really takes me to Hungary is my passion for coaching. I love doing this, I love seeing my players evolve, I feel like it’s keeping me young that I can go to the rink every day and work with the team”, said AVS neo-coach Constantine.

"Kevin is a very experienced and structured coach. We felt that our team needed to play orderly hockey next season - and we set that expectation for the coach. I really hope that he will not only help the team, but also be a good mentor for our whole coaching staff. He has coached at the highest level overseas and in Europe, so we are confident that the team can reach the next level," says Viktor Szélig, the club's general manager.
