EC-KAC came out dominant in front of 4,300 fans in Game 5 against Hydro Fehérvár AV19. After creating several chances early on, Raphael Herburger opened the scoring in the seventh minute, finishing off a brilliant rush and no-look assist by Jan Mursak. However, the visitors grew into the game as the period progressed and were rewarded in the 15th minute: following two costly mistakes in KAC’s build-up play, Justin Richards made it 1–1. KAC continued to control much of the play, but the Hungarians also created dangerous chances in front of Sebastian Dahm’s net.

In the 29th minute, Mathias From restored the lead for the home side with a perfect wrist shot into the top corner to make it 2–1. But once again, individual mistakes proved costly. In the 34th minute, From turned the puck over at the offensive blue line, allowing Trevor Cheek to break away and beat Dahm to tie the game at 2–2.

The game remained level heading into the final period, where the Hungarian side got off to a perfect start: Ole Einar Engeland Andersen scored in the 44th minute, followed by Anze Kuralt in the 47th, as Fehérvár surged to a 4–2 lead and took a major step toward the road win.

KAC refused to give up and pulled one back just three and a half minutes later through a sensational solo effort by Mathias From to make it 3–4. It was the Dane’s 30th goal of the season and already his fourth brace, having also recorded a hat trick earlier in the campaign. The KAC then dominated proceedings, creating one big chance after another, while Fehérvár was mostly limited to defending. In the end, however, the Hungarians held on to secure the narrow road win and now have their first opportunity to clinch a semifinal spot at home on Wednesday.
