After the defeat in game one, the pressure was on the Steinbach Black Wings Linz, who had an answer ready. Marc-Andre Dorion, who was called up to the lineup on game day due to Matt Murphy's absence, gave the Upper Austrians the lead in the fifth minute. As on Tuesday, the Moser Medical Graz99ers had problems in the first period, they hardly found their game. In a powerplay of the Styrians, of all things, the guests scored the second goal through Brodi Stuart. The score was 0:2 going into the first intermission. Shortly after the restart, Brian Lebler scored twice to make things even clearer. In a two man advantage, Viktor Granholm (25.) got the home side on the scoreboard, but the Styrians failed to get even closer in further power play situations. In the final period, it was 5:2 for the Upper Austrians after goals from Romig and Schiechl, and finally Black Wings captain Lebler ensured the final score with his hat trick. Thus, for the first time in the history of the pre-playoffs, a decisive game three will take place in Linz on Sunday.

Fehérvár clinches quarter-final ticket

After the clear 4:0 home win, Hydro Fehérvár AV19 also got off to an ideal start in the second game of the series, with Csanad Erdely providing the early 1:0 in the third minute. Only a little later, Asiago equalized through Luke Moncada. The visitors went ahead twice more in the first period and had a slim 3:2 advantage after the opening period. After the restart Michele Marchetti managed to equalize again on power play, but the course of the game continued. Anze Kuralt (31st) scored to make it 4:3 and captain Janos Hari finally ensured the two-goal lead for the first time. Although the home side struck back once again through goal scorer Giordano Finoro to make it 4:5. After the goal festival over 40 minutes, however, no more goals were scored in the third and Asiago's premiere season in the win2day ICE Hockey League came to an end. For Fehervar it is the eighth playoff participation.
