The recently weakening leader HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice receives on Thursday one of the currently strongest teams in the league, HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. The South Tyroleans are currently sixth in the table and last week they had to admit defeat for the first time after previously winning nine games in a row. Jesenice had to play two games in Vorarlberg last week. After a clear 4:7 defeat in Lustenau, they won the next day at EC Bregenzerwald only after overtime. In the table, the Slovenians are six points ahead of the second-placed team from Ritten. The first duel of the season between Jesenice and Gardena/Gröden was won 3:0 by the top team.

League newcomer HC Merano/o Pircher wants to win also the second match against SHC Fassa Falcons. On October 2, the "Eagles" narrowly retained the upper hand with 3:2. With ten wins from the first 19 games of the season and ninth place in the table, Merano started very well into the Alps Hockey League adventure. Fassa, on the other hand, is only 15th, with both teams already separated by ten points. The "Falcons" were last victorious in Sterzing with 4:2. It was only their second away win in the ninth game. HCM won four of its nine home games. With the Russian Nikolai Zherdev, Meran has gained an absolute reinforcement in the offense.
