The hosts got off a great start into the derby with Henrik Neubauer making the breakthrough after five minutes off a pass from Maximilian Hohenegg. Soon later Bregenzerwald also used their first power play as Jusso Mörsky doubled the lead. But then the home side made some mistakes but goalie Misa Pietilä had several great saves to keep a clean sheet. After 14 minutes the Finn was without chance when Daniel Fekete got Feldkirch on the scoreboard with a man advantage. In the middle frame the VEU, without Witting and Mairitsch this evening, had an early power play but Bregenzerwald scored: Daniel Ban restored the two-goal lead while playing shorthanded. At the midway point of the game the guests did better and Kristof Reinthaler pulled one back on power play. Just three minutes later VEU top scorer Dylan Stanley lit the lamp for an equalizer - 3:3. Feldkirch turned the game around in the third with Smail Samardzic putting his colours 4:3 ahead. ECB pressed hard for an equalizer but VEU netminder Alex Caffi made some big saves. With the hosts continuing, VEU coach Michael Lampert took a time out to regroup his team. With two minutes to go Pietilä left the ice for another skater but Fekete rounded off the scoring. With tthe 5:3 road win, Feldkirch climbed to third place.
