Feldkirch ends losing streak

On Staturday the VEU Feldkirch ended its losing streak. After six consecutive losses, the VEU beat EC Bregenzerwald in the Vorarlberg-Derby in front of almost 2.500 spectators 4:3 and booked an important win regarding the top-4 in standings. Meanwhile, the EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau pressured the top-4 even more with its third straight win, defeating EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel 5:3.

The EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau made one step closer to the top-4 after celebrating a 5:3 home win against EC “Die Adler” Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. With its third consecutive win, Lustenau remains unbeaten in home-games against the “eagles”. The home team got off a perfect start with Philipp Koczera scoring the first goal of the night after 33 seconds. After Maximilian Wilfang doubled up, Lustenau killed three straight penalties, because Kitzbühel was not that effective on the offensive end. Later in the second the home team wasted a couple of powerplays too. Soon later, they increased their lead on equal strength thanks to Juhani Arkiomaa Eetu-Ville and Dominik Oberscheider. Trailing 0:4 after two periods, Kitzbühel then picked the game up. Adam Havlik got his colors on the scoreboard for the first time, while Friedrich Schröder added a second shorthanded about ten minutes to go. In the end the guest went all-in and pulled out goalkeeper Paul Morcher receiving an empty netter by Arkiomaa in 57th minute. Niclas Maurer pulled one back for the final result.

The VEU Feldkirch got back on winning ways after six consecutive losses and beat EC Bregenzerwald 4:3. After wasting an early powerplay, the VEU Feldkirch took the lead around halfway through the first with two goals within 76 seconds. First Benjamin Kyllönen and then Stefan Steurer gave the home team a 2:0-lead in front of 2.476 spectators. It took three powerplays until the guests got on the scoreboard. Maximilian Hohenegg halved the deficit in the 28th minute. Soon later, Dylan Stanley restored VEU’s two-goal-lead with his 16th goal this season. Still in the second, in which both teams played a solid defense, the “Wälder” pulled one back. Aleksi Juhuni Järvinen reduced to 2:3. After the second intermission, the home team got on winning ways as Smail Samardzic scored his first goal of the night. The game became more physical in the last ten minutes with four straight penalties for the EC Bregenzerwald. Feldkirch missed its powerplays, while the guests pulled one back shorthanded thanks to Georg Waldhauser.
