On Saturday evening the last decisions in the Regular Season were made. As the SHC Fassa Falcons lost to the VEU Feldkirch with 3:4, the VEU, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and the EC Bregenzerwald earned the last three Pre-Playoff tickets. HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice ended the seven-game winning streak of the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it. The Slovenians prevailed with 5:4 after overtime. In the meantime, however, the South Tyroleans were already leading with 3:0. Already tomorrow, Sunday, two more games are on the schedule.
The VEU Feldkirch, the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan and the EC Bregenzerwald earned the last Pre-Playoff tickets. The VEU celebrated with 4:3 at the SHC Fassa Falcons and thus eliminated the last remaining competitor for the Pre-Playoff qualification. The decision in favor of the Vorarlberg team, which moved up to tenth place in the standings, was scored only four minutes before the end of the game. Niklas Gehringer scored the game winner.
Sterzing surprises Red Bull Hockey Juniors
The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan also celebrated a victory. The South Tyroleans surprisingly prevailed at the Red Bull Hockey Juniors with 2:1. The Young Bulls, which are still in sixth place in the table, took the lead. Both goals of the Broncos were scored by Trevor Gooch. For the 26-years-old American, it was already the season goals 24 and 25. While Sterzing took the second win in a row, RBJ already conceded the fourth defeat in a row.
Bregenzerwald qualified for Pre-Playoffs despite a defeat
Despite a defeat, the EC Bregenzerwald also qualified for the Pre-Playoffs. The team from Vorarlberg lost to the S.G. Cortina Hafro with 3:4, but led both with 1:0, 2:1 and 3:2. For the fifth in the table from Italy it was the seventh win out of the last eight games. Bregenzerwald conceded the third defeat en suite. In the table, the ECB slipped back to the twelfth place.
Jesenice turns around three-goal deficit
Second-placed HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice celebrated a 5:4-OT win against the HC Gherdeina valgardena.it and ended the seven-game winning streak of the South Tyroleans. At the beginning, however, GHE was on the best way to the eight win in a row. After the first period, the "Furie" already led with 3:0. Jesenice could not only equalize the score, but even take the lead about two minutes before the end of the game. Only a few seconds later, this time, GHE equalized. In the overtime Aljosa Crnovic scored the game-winning goal seven seconds before the end of the game. It was the fourth straight win for JES.
Asiago finishes off the Steel Wings
Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey gave the Steel Wings Linz no chance, dispatching the bottom from the table with 10:2. The guests from Linz had a dream start. Jakob Mitsch gave SWL the lead in the ninth minute of the game. The hosts then were superior, especially in the second period. After the first 20 minutes of play the score was 1:1, ASH scored five times in the second period. Four more goals from the Italian champions followed in the final period. The guests scored a second time shortly before the end of the game.
No chance for Lustenau at Pustertal
The EHC Lustenau had no chance on Saturday too. The Vorarlberg team was defeated by the third-placed HC Pustertal Wölfe with 6:1 and continued their negative run. For the EHC it was already the fourth defeat in a row. In the standings, they slipped to the eighth place. Already after 24 minutes of play, the hosts from Bruneck led with 4:0, with Yuri Cristellon being the only player to score twice. In the standings, Pustertal is only one point behind the second place, but has already played one more game than Jesenice.
Ritten new seventh in the standings
The Ritten Buam won their last home game of the Regular Season against EC-KAC II clearly with 4:1 and overtook the EHC Lustenau in the standings. With now one point ahead of the EHC, RIT is new seventh in the table. The South Tyroleans already led with 3:0 after the first period and no further goals followed in the middle period. In the final period both teams could score once each. While the KA2 conceded the second defeat in a row, Ritten already recorded the third victory in a row.
