EC Red Bull Salzburg is "halfway there" since Tuesday night, as the defending champions won the third finals game 4:1 and need two more wins to claim their eighth league championship. Crucial for the first road win in this final series was again a strong defensive performance and once again an outstanding performance by goalie Atte Tolvanen. The "Red Bulls" have conceded only two goals in the three games so far, both of which HCB Südtirol Alperia had to work hard to earn. Tolvanen - his goal-save streak spanning games was over 151 minutes - has so far held 78 of 80 shots on goal (97.5%). The Finn already excelled in last year's final series, was Salzburg's difference-maker in a 4-0 win over Hydro Fehérvár AV19.

In addition, Matt McIlvane's team impresses with a compact and almost insurmountable penalty killing: The already strong 83.0% from the regular season, the "Red Bulls" screwed in the postseason to a great 91.2%. During the playoffs, Salzburg conceded only three goals in 34 box plays. In the final series, none yet. In general, in the final series between these two teams so far, no goals have been scored on the power play. The last time there was no PP goal in the first three final games was in 2006 between Salzburg and Villach.

On the other hand, Bolzano is weakening offensively: While the Foxes scored 2.83 goals per game in the quarter and semifinals, they are only scoring 0.66 goals per game in the current final series, compared to 3.65 in the regular season.

Game three in Salzburg has been sold out since Wednesday. About 200 Bolzano fans will accompany their team to Salzburg. A total of 15,421 spectators have already attended the final series in the win2day ICE Hockey League.
