Philipp Lindner of HC TWK Innsbruck "Die Haie" has been fined for Unsportsmanlike Conduct.

Philipp Lindner (#77) of HC TWK Innsbruck "Die Haie" was involved in an incident deemed as Unsportsmanlike Conduct (IIHF Rule 168) in the west-derby against Dornbirn Bulldogs on December 28th 2018, time 37:06. The video evidence was sent to the EBEL Player Safety Committee (PSC)for consultation and determined the incident to be worthy of supplementary discipline.
 
According to the Arbitrator and having considered the video evidence and ruling of the EBEL PSC, player Philipp Lindner (#77) of HC TWK Innsbruck 'Die Haie', will receive supplementary discipline under rule 168 – Unsportsmanlike Conduct.
 
A incident occurred which involved Philipp Lindner being checked and sustaining an apparent injury on the play. The opposing player was penalized for the infraction and located in the penalty box. After paramedics were on the ice to help Philipp Lindner with regards to an apparent injury, Philipp Lindner left the ice on his own accord. With the incident occurring in the far corner from Innsbruck players bench, Philipp Lindner skated from the end boards to his players bench. Instead of skating with a concern for his possible injury or going directly to the players box, which is what he must do, Philipp Lindner instead, at his own will, engaged in body gestures deemed detrimental to the game.
 
The reason for supplementary discipline is Philipp Lindner pointed at the opposing player in the penalty box, followed by a hand gesture to his throat. We assume Philipp Lindner thought this was a real threatening gesture. In reality, it is an intolerable body gesture. The gesture serves absolutely no purpose in the game and will not be tolerated. Considered a complete lack of integrity for the opposing team and the game.
Effective immediately, Philipp Lindner (#77) is fined 500.00 Euros.
