EC Red Bull Salzburg, currently eighth in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, has strengthened its roster with goalie Atte Tolvanen. Atte Tolvanen, who already trained with Salzburg on Monday, learned at various clubs in Finland and moved to the USA in 2013 at the age of 19. There he first played two years in the North American Hockey League and then four years in the NCAA at Northern Michigan University. He then played six games in the AHL for Syracuse Crunch and returned to Finland in 2019, where he was active for the Pelicans in 2019/20 and Ässät in 2020/21. He made 45 appearances in Finland's top league Liiga.

"I am happy to be here. I don't know anyone from my new team yet, but the guys have given me a very warm welcome," Atte Tolvanen said today after the first off-ice practice. In Europe, the Red Bulls are the first stop outside Finland for the goalkeeper: "I've been looking for an opportunity like this. I hope to have a successful time here. I want to help the team win the championship".

In the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, Tolvanen expects an intense game: "It's hard for me to compare it with the Finnish Liiga. But I've heard that the game here is more open, more scoring chances are created and I have to be prepared for more breakaways."
