EC „Die Adler“ Stadtwerke Kitzbühel have celebrated a 4:3-victory after Overtime in Bruneck on Thursday. Besides, HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana, HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice, Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, HC Gherdeina valgardena.it and EHC Alge Elastic Lustenau earned wins in the Alps Hockey League too.

Sportivi Ghiaccio Cortina Hafro had a perfect start into the match in Ljubljana on Thursday. Nick Bruneteau netted the 1:0 after just 2012 seconds. The game went up and down in the next minutes. In minute 14, Massimio Cordiano took a hooking penalty and the following Power Play became the game changer: Zajc (14./pp) and Music (16.) turned the score with two goals within just 156 seconds – 2:1. The Slovenes were the chiefs on the ice after the re-start and they were quickly rewared with the 3:1 netted by Koren. The match got chippy in period 3: The highlight was a fight between Zajc and Trecapelli in minute 55. Koren has even added the 4:1 in the final minute.

Pance (4.) and Paradis with a Power Play goal (7.) gave HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice a quick 2:0-lead in Klagenfurt. The second period started similar to period 1: Stojan netted the 3:0 after just 230 seconds. But, the „Red Jackets“ had a quick answer: Kompain potted Klagenfurt’s first goal just 52 seconds later (25.). The Slovenes had more from the game in period 2 as well, but the next goal was again scored by Klagenfurt: Steffler was successful in minute 33 – 2:3. But, the „Red Steelers“, who have the best scoring% in the League, have shown their real face in the last period then: Cimzar (48.), Kalan (51.) and Sodja (57.) decided the match with three goals within just nine minutes. In the end, the Steel Citizens won in Klagenfurt 6:3.

Each team searched their luck in the offense in period 1 (10:13-shots). Scholz has finally opened the scoring in minute 11. After the re-start, the Italians took over the control of the game and they were finally rewarded with the 1:1 netted by Kofler in minute 29. Period 3 has started perfect for the Polar Bears: Oakley netted the 2:1 after just 130 seconds. The game went up and down now: While the Pinzgauer tried to decide the game, the guests from Sterzing went for the 2:2, which McNally has finally potted in minute 50. The match went to Overtime, where Mantinger potted the Game Winner.

For this match, leader HC Pustertal missed Captain Armin Helfer, Marko Virtala and Thomas Erlacher. So, the captain of the Wolves was Armin Hofer. For the opponents there was the debut  of the Austrian goalkeeper Paul Mocher. The match began immediately with the home team that took the attack and after three minutes there was the first goal of the yellow-black team: Markus Gander served a nice puck (from behind the net) for Tommaso Traversa who achieved the 1:0. The game was fast and with few interruptions. The home team controlled the game operations and after 16 minutes built the doubling with an identical action of the first goal: Raphael Andergassen served a puck - from behind the net - for Tommaso Traversa who signed his personal double. In the second period the match was much more fought and physical. Henrik Hochfilzer's goal, after just 18 seconds of play, reloaded the Eagles, who now played on a par with the leaders of the AHL. After 36 minutes the Wolves scored again with Ivan Althuber (36'). But the Kitzbuhel didn’t give up and just 91 seconds later they shortened the distance again with Peter Lenes' goal. In the third period, the home team tried to close the accounts but despite many shots at the net of Paul Mocher and a pole, the result didn’t change. Shortly before the middle of the period the Kitzbühel drew with Adam Havlik with a deadly counterattack in penalty killing. Bruneck put a lot of effort into getting back on advantage  but his efforts didn’t produce other goal. So the game went to overtime. When missing 43 seconds from the shutout there was the goal of Kitzbühel with the Swede David Lidstrom that allowed the Austrians to win by 4:3. For the first time in the AHL season, Bruneck lost at home after 16 successes.

The game was very fought. After a start in favour of the guests, Milan also becomes dangerous. After half time the Lustenau took the lead with Marc-Oliver Vallerand who used the second powerplay in favour of the Austrians. Then Jurgen Tschernutter scored the 2:0 with a very precise shot. But Milano halved the disadvantage with a nice shot by Andrea Schina in powerplay at 108 seconds from the end of the first period. In the second half the game was very hard and hard fought. Milan drew with Marcello Borghi but with the advance of the second period the Lustenau proved to be more decisive as they found the 4:2 with the goals of David König and top-scorer Chris D'Alvise. But before the second break, the home team found the goal of Tommaso Terzago in powerplay. The forward of the red-blue team scored again in the third half for a draw that rewarded a very energetic Milan. But the experience of the Austrians comes out in the last three minutes of play. Maximilian Wilfan took the lead for the third time in the favour of the Vorarlberg team, which then won the game with Philp Putnik's empty net goal (6:4).

There was some news in the Gherdeina. First match for the new Finnish forward Jussi Viitanen and for the new Finnish coach Timo Kepp who took the place of Patrice Lefebvre. The home team cannot dispose of the brothers Andreas and Gabriel Vinatzer. Leo Kostner was the starting goalkeeper as he replaced Misa Pietila (in not perfect physical condition). Fassa couldn’t have Channing Bresciani, Soel Costantin, Hannes Oberruach, Elias Thum and Karl Ostman. After 9 minutes of play the game took a decisive direction. The protagonist was Derek Eastman, who first made a counterattack and then made 2:0 after just 11 seconds. The Gherdeina didn't spare: Colin Long's great shot that Gianni Scola didn't hold for the Furies' 3:0. After this goal Fassa changed the goalkeeper and Marco Lorenz (12') entered. After a clear post of the new Vitanen, there was the 4:0 of the home team with Michael Sullman after a good action with Long. Before the end of the first period, there was the first goal of Falcons with a deflection by Davide Schiavone after a shot from the blue. This was Fassa's first goal after 204 minutes of play. In the second half the history of the game didn’t change. Leo Kostner made some important saved while Gherdeina found other three goals: Ivan Demetz at the beginning of the second period, then Benjamin Kostner at the end of a good action (34') and then in the final seconds came also the goal of Viitanen in shorthanded for a 7:1 of Gherdeina after 40' of game. In the third period, Gherdeina played with all the players available. There was the absolute debut in the first team of the young Tobias Moroder (2002), Julian Senoner (2002) and Leo Messner (2003). The home team continued its game and before the end of the match scores three more goals. Viitanen realized his personal double and then there were the last two goals of Christian Willeit and the young Damian Bergmeister (first goal in AHL). Gherdeina wins by 10:1 the derby against Fassa as they remained in eleventh position. In the last four games Fassa has conceded 34 goals and scored only one goal.
