Regular Season winners Graz made a dominant start to their first-ever Final series and remain unbeaten in the 2026 playoffs. For Pustertal, the 1:5 defeat marked their second loss of this postseason – and for the first time they are now trailing in a series. The South Tyroleans will now have the chance to respond in front of their home fans on Friday.

At home, they have not lost a single playoff game this season and have conceded just three goals in five matches. Graz, meanwhile, remains unbeaten on the road in the playoffs as well, with a goal record of 21:5. In the regular season, Pustertal had no success at home against Graz, suffering two clear defeats (1:7, 0:4).

Should Graz also win Game 2 on Friday, the statistics suggest the championship would be within touching distance. In nine previous best-of-seven Final series, the team that went 2–0 up went on to win the title eight times. Only in 2010 did Linz squander a 2–0 series lead against Salzburg, eventually losing the series 2–4.
