Five Alps Hockey League games are scheduled from Friday to Sunday, with KHL Sisak having the opportunity to take over first place in the standings. The second-placed team will be in action on Friday against HC Meran/o Pircher and on Saturday against S.G. Cortina Hafro. KHL Sisak, currently second in the standings, is just one point behind Red Bull Hockey Juniors. This weekend offers the Croatians a chance to take the top spot, as they have two games while the Juniors are free from play. Sisak’s first match comes in the only Friday game at HC Meran/o Pircher. The twelfth-placed Italians have 14 points but are only seven points behind fifth-placed Ritten. Of their last five games, Meran has only won the last one, a 5-4 shootout victory in Zell am See, while Sisak has won their last four matches.

Sisak in Cortina on Saturday
On Saturday, Sisak travels to S.G. Cortina Hafro. The Italians have won only two of their last five games and are currently ninth in the standings. The two teams have not faced each other this season, though in the previous season, Cortina won two of their three encounters.

Gherdeina faces Kitzbühel
In the second Saturday game, HC Gherdeina valgardena.it faces Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel. The teams already met at the start of the season in Kitzbühel, where the Tyroleans claimed a convincing 6-2 home victory. This was one of eight wins so far for the third-placed team, while Gherdeina, currently eighth, has won six of twelve games but only one of their last five. Kitzbühel, on the other hand, has been in strong form with four wins in their last five matches.

Cortina with Second Game within 24 hours
S.G. Cortina Hafro will be back on the ice no less than 24 hours after their Saturday game – this time facing EC Bregenzerwald. The two teams last met on October 31 in Cortina, where Bregenzerwald narrowly claimed a 4-3 overtime victory. EC Bregenzerwald is currently the most in-form team in the Alps Hockey League, having celebrated five consecutive wins. Their latest success came on Wednesday with a 3-1 home victory over the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. With this streak, the Vorarlberg side has already climbed to fourth place in the standings.

Vipiteno and Zell am See close the weekend
The fifth and final game of the weekend features the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan against EK Die Zeller Eisbären. The eleventh Broncos were already in action on Wednesday, losing 1-3 to Bregenzerwald – their fifth consecutive defeat. Defending champions Zell am See have also lost their last two games and are currently sixth. In the first meeting of the season with Vipiteno, the Polar Bears narrowly won 3-2 at home.
