EC-KAC dropped Friday’s Carinthian Derby in Villach 3–5. Despite solid defensive play, allowing just 2.41 goals per game, KAC has struggled to convert chances on the road lately. Another tough away game awaits on Sunday against second-placed Olimpija Ljubljana, whose impressive offense (4.72 goals per game) and outstanding power play (25 goals so far) have been key strengths. Olimpija, which recently turned around its game against Bolzano, also won the season’s first meeting with KAC in a shootout.

The Moser Medical Graz99ers celebrated their third straight victory on Friday. In front of their home crowd, the Styrians defeated EC Red Bull Salzburg 4–1 and climbed to third place. Coach Philipp Pinter’s team now looks to build on that momentum against Innsbruck before Dan Lacroix takes over as head coach next week. Innsbruck visits Vienna on Saturday and then heads to Graz the following day. The HCI took the first season meeting in a shootout.

With their derby win, EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV returned to the top six. The Carinthians now face the Vienna Capitals, who play at home against Innsbruck on Saturday before traveling to Villach on Sunday. VSV has won the last four direct matchups, including the season’s first clash.

After five straight losses (including CHL games), Salzburg hopes to return to winning ways at home against Hydro Fehérvár AV19. Manny Viveiros’ team has slipped to seventh in the standings for the first time this season and is fighting to reclaim a top-six position. Fehérvár, sitting just behind them, has improved under new head coach Ted Dent and recently earned back-to-back wins over Bolzano and Budapest. The Hungarians won the first season meeting, but Salzburg claimed the last four duels on home ice.

Pioneers Vorarlberg return to home ice after the international break to face Steinbach Black Wings Linz. Linz, after a slow start to the season, is gaining momentum—Friday’s home win over league leader Pustertal lifted them to ninth place. Meanwhile, bottom club Feldkirch desperately needs points to close the gap to the pre-playoff spots. Linz clearly prevailed 5–2 in the season opener.
