League newcomers KHL Sisak have made a surprising start to the season. After ten games, the Croatians are top of the table with 26 points. On Thursday, they will face third-placed SIJ Acroni Jesenice for the third time this season. The Slovenians are two points behind the leaders. In their first league encounter, Jesenice narrowly won at home with 3:2/OT. The two teams also faced each other in the Continental Cup in Ritten. Jesenice were victorious 3:1. With 53 goals scored and only 19 goals conceded, Sisak have the best offense and defense in the league. They have won all five games in front of their home crowd after regular time. Jesenice, on the other hand, have only conceded one away defeat.

Fourth-placed Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel are also in action on Thursday. The Tyroleans, who led the table for a long time, will face the tenth-placed Hockey Unterland Cavaliers at home. The two teams are separated by seven points. The “Eagles” are just two points behind leaders Sisak. Both teams are facing each other for the first time this season. Last season, Kitzbühel won three out of four duels. The Tyroleans slipped into a minor crisis before the international break. They have lost all of their last four matches, although they were up against absolute top teams in all of them. They lost twice at league leaders Sisak (1:4, 1:5), were also beaten 4:5 by second-placed Zell am See and conceded a 2:5 home defeat to third-placed Jesenice. Unterland lost their last two games before the break, before that they celebrated two wins in a row.

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors were in action for the first time after the international break on Tuesday. They narrowly won 2:1/OT at home against Val Gardena. It was one of only three wins from the last ten games for the team in eighth place in the table. On Thursday, the Juniors will face EC Bregenzerwald. The team from Vorarlberg has recently shown great improvement with three wins in a row and climbed to eleventh place in the table. In their first duel of the season on October 12, the Young Bulls narrowly won 4:3/OT against the ECB.

HC Gherdeina valgardena.it will also play its second game of the week on Thursday, again away from home. After the 1:2/OT defeat at the Juniors, this time it's a derby with the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan, who have not won any of their last six games and are only in thirteenth and last place in the table. They are already ten points behind ninth-placed Val Gardena. The “Furie” have been waiting for a win for three games. Their last win was in Sterzing on October 24. Val Gardena won 3:1 in a tight game. All four goals were scored in the second period.

In the fifth and final game of the day, S.G. Cortina Hafro and HC Meran/o Pircher face each other. Last year's finalists from Cortina are in seventh place in the table with 19 points, while Merano has slipped to twelfth place after a good start to the season, but is only five points behind the Italians. However, the “Eagles” from South Tyrol have only one win from their last five encounters, while Cortina have won their last two games and have thus overcome a crisis, having previously only won one of their eight matches. Cortina faced Merano in the quarter-finals last season. Cortina won the series 4:1. The two teams are facing each other for the first time in the current campaign.
