Five home wins in the first leg of the second return 2-play duels

In the first leg of the second return 2-play duels, five of the six games ended with a home win. The EHC Lustenau celebrated a narrow 4:3 derby victory against the VEU Feldkirch. Man of the match was Frederik Rasmussen, who scored three goals. With HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice and HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana both Slovenian teams celebrated wins. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors and the EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel won at home. The game with the most goals was in Ritten. The Rittner Buam celebrated a narrow 6:4 home victory over the HC Pustertal Wölfe.

Gala performance of Rasmussen at a close derby victory of Lustenau
The EHC Lustenau won the first big derby of Vorarlberg of the season against the VEU Feldkirch with 4:3. The man of the match was Frederik Rasmussen, who scored three goals. Right at the beginning of the match both teams were in a goal mood. After four minutes of play, the guests from Feldkirch took the 1:0 lead through Jakob Stukel. Only 17 seconds later, Lustenau equalized with Rasmussen's first goal. Two minutes later, the native Dane scored a second goal. Again only 30 seconds later the VEU equalized to 2:2. Just before the end of the first period Feldkirch took a 3:2 lead. From the second period onwards, the defensive lines of both teams stabilized. It took until minute 31 before Rasmussen completed his hattrick and scored the 3:3. The Game Winning Goal was scored by Lucas Loibnegger in the 36th minute of play.

Jesenice with clear victory over Linz
HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice won the first leg of the second round of the return 2-play games with 5:0 against the Steel Wings Linz. While period number one ended without a goal, the hosts were able to clearly determine the game from the second period on. With a goal from Erik Svetina and a shorthander from Gasper Sersen, the second period ended with two goals from Jesenice. In the last period, JES was able to add three more goals. Jaka Sturm was successful twice.

KA2 lost against Ljubljana
In the second duel farm team against Slovenian representatives, the favorite from Slovenia once again clearly prevailed. The HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana beat the EC-KAC II in Klagenfurt with 4:1. The AHL champion of 2019 led already after a little more than six minutes of play with 2:0. No further goals were scored until minute 37, before the KA2 scored their first goal. Before the end of period two, however, the guests scored two more goals and ensured a preliminary decision in the first leg. No further goals were scored in the third period.

Red Bull Hockey Juniors won against Sterzing
With a 3:2 home win, the Red Bull Hockey Juniors beat the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan. The Hockey Juniors took a 1:0 lead in the fifth minute of the game. Shortly before the end of the first period Salzburg scored the second goal in a power play. Also in the second period the hosts scored first. In minute 32 the guests from South Tyrol were able to score for the first time. In the 54th WSV scored the second goal.

Clear home victory of Kitzbühel
The EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel did not give the EC Bregenzwerwald a chance. The Tyroleans won the first leg against the Vorarlber team with 5:1. In the twelfth minute of the game, the hosts took the lead with 1:0 through a goal by Philipp Maurer. After four minutes in the second period, the guests equalized. Kitzbühel then set the tone for much of the game and scored four more goals. The „Gamsstädter“ are thus the clear favorites for the second leg in Dornbirn.

Ritten wins 10-goal spectacle against Pustertal
With 6:4 the Rittner Buam won the 10-goal spectacle against the HC Pustertal Wölfe. Already after one period the hosts led with 3:1 and at the end of the second period Pustertal equalized. In the third period Ritten was able to establish a two-goal lead again. With a powerplay goal from Raphael Andergassen the "Wolves" reduced the lead to 5:4, before the "Buam" restored the two-goal advantage with another powerplay goal from Jakob Prast.
