Mark Rassel is regarded as a real goal scorer and has been able to prove this in recent years with his clubs in the American Hockey League and East Coast Hockey League. The 27-year-old has scored 70 times in 158 games across all leagues. The Calgary native joins the Sharks from the Idaho Steelheads of the East Coast Hockey League. Rassel was one of the absolute leaders there, averaging over one point per game in the regular season and playoffs.

Mark Rassel: "I'm very excited to come to Innsbruck and can't wait for the season to start. After a few years in the AHL and ECHL, I'm ready for a new adventure in Austria."

HCI head coach Jordan Smotherman: "Mark has a high hockey IQ, a great shot, can score, he's a born goal scorer. We also enquired about him with his former clubs and only heard good things about Mark. He's a great person, an excellent team player and will fit in perfectly with the group."
