EC-KAC - HC TIWAG Innsbruck
After the win at Ljubljana during the week, the KAC was clearly beaten 0:5 by the champions in Salzburg on Friday. An exciting race is emerging at the top of the table, with the top four currently within six points of each other - with different numbers of games played. Second-placed Klagenfurt goes into the clash with Innsbruck as clear favorites, with the team in last place having won just one of their last twelve games. However, the HCI lead the direct season comparison with 2:1 wins.

spusu Vienna Capitals - EC Red Bull Salzburg
The Capitals slipped to a 3:6 defeat at VSV due to some defensive mistakes. Although the Viennese have the highest average attendance in the league - over 4,600 fans come to the STEFFL Arena - they are the second weakest home team in the league with just six wins from 20 games. Salzburg delivered an impressive performance against the KAC with a decimated squad, in which some young academy players replaced convalescing regulars. The reigning champions are now just five points off the top of the table, although the Red Bulls have played four games less than Fehérvár. Salzburg won the first two duels of the season, but the Viennese team prevailed for the first time at the beginning of January.

Steinbach Black Wings Linz - Olimpija Ljubljana
Linz missed several chances in their 2:1 defeat in Vorarlberg. The Upper Austrians are still in sixth place and have even played one game less than rivals Villach. Ljubljana were beaten by the KAC on Wednesday. The eighth-placed Slovenians are currently in a duel with Pustertal for home advantage in the pre-playoffs. The Upper Austrians have won twelve of 14 league duels against Olimpija so far, including the first two meetings this season.

Pioneers Vorarlberg - EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV
The Pioneers and Villach were among the big winners on Friday's game day. The Vorarlberg team celebrated a 2:1 home win over Linz - their eighth victory in the last eleven games. Head coach Dylan Stanley's team thus reduced the gap to tenth-placed Vienna to four points. VSV are now just one point off the top six after their 6:3 win over the Capitals. The Carinthians have won the three duels with the Pioneers so far this season - but they were always close encounters: twice one goal made the difference, once it was two goals (through an empty netter).
