The omens could not have been more different in the match between HC TIWAG Innsbruck and Steinbach Black Wings Linz. While the hosts had previously celebrated five wins in a row, the Upper Austrians had to admit defeat four times in a row. Although the Linzers shot significantly more often on goal over the entire game (34:24), the home side proved to be enormously efficient with three power play goals. After Magwood (13.) and Messner (26.) both scored with a manadvantage to take a 2:0 lead, Simon Bourque increased the lead to 3:0 with his first goal in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. Although the visitors came back to within one goal, McGauley quickly provided the appropriate answer from the Tyrolean perspective on another PP. In the end the hosts earned a 5:2 victory. Innsbruck, who remain third, last won six in a row in the 2017/18 season, while Linz slipped back to the bottom of the table with the defeat.

Late goals secure Caps home win
The spusu Vienna Capitals extended their winning streak to four games. Although the hosts fell behind in their home game against the Moser Medical Graz99ers due to an individual mistake, goals from Bauer and Lowry turned the game in favor of the home side. After Graz captain Oberkofler equalized, it looked like it was going to be overtime until Niki Hartl (58./PP) scored late to give Vienna the lead again. Brody Sutter fixed the 4:2 final score for the now sixth-placed Capitals with an empty netter. For Graz it was the third defeat this week.

Salzburg and Bolzano also on the winning track
EC Red Bull Salzburg won the home game against EC GRAND Immo VSV with 5:2 and was also the deserved winner in the amount. The Red Bulls were the team that dominated the game and only had to concede the 2:2 equalizer in the middle period, before they made everything clear with three more goals in the third. Peter Schneider and Florian Baltram each scored twice for the hosts.

In the second final rematch of the season between HCB Südtirol Alperia and EC-KAC, the Bolzano team won for the first time. Although the champions clearly recorded more shots on goal with 29:16, a Halmo goal was enough for HCB to win. The Canadian scored five seconds before the first period break on power play. For goalie Kevin Boyle it was the first shutout in the jersey of the Foxes.
