Four road wins I Salzburgs stays on top

The last four games in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga before Christmas saw road wins on Sunday. Leader EC Red Bull Salzburg stayed top with a victory at Vienna. Villach and Fehérvár came closer the upper half of the table with beating top-5 teams. In addition, Moser Medical Graz 99ers extended their winning streak to four.

Red Bulls won top game at Vienna
Salzburg's Connor Brickley had two 1-on-0 situations in the first minutes with using the second for an early Red Bulls lead. Soon later new arrival János Hári doubled the score at his debut. After former RBS palyer Mark Flood pulled one back on pp early in the second, Chad Kolarik restored the two-goal lead later in the period. Ali Wukovits' lone third-period goal for Vienna was not enough, Salzburg extended their lead at the top with a 3:2 road win.


Fehérvár prolongs Klagenfurt's losing streak
KAC pressed for an early goal but Fehervar's Félix Girard opened the scoring in the 13th minute off a Yogan pass. Soon later the Teddy Bear Toss took place as Matt Neal tied it at one. It was Klagenfurt's lone goal this afternoon, though. In the second the hosts missed a 5 on 3 power play and then Adam Comrie got a game misconduct. The Hungarians took advantage with the game winner from Andrew Sarauer. They also prolonged the losing streak of KAC, the last time the champions had four losses with no points was back in 2014.

Villach earns great comeback win
Linz got off a perfect start in their 500th Erste Bank Eishockey Liga home game with Brian Lebler scoring after only 33 seconds. Everything went quickly with a couple of goals on both sides. In the 17th minute Linz' new arrival Hunter Fejes found the back of the net for a 4:2 lead. The Carinthians bounced back in the second with Ulmer and Reid tying the game at four. Despite Dan DaSilva taking another Black Wings lead in third, the guests got the win thanks to three unanswered goals.


Oberkofler brace keeps winning streak of Graz alive

Joakim Hillding got the guests on the scoreboard early as the Swede lit the lamp after a great solo run. Both teams had chances with Innsbruck tying lat ein the first. After the restart the defensive units did a good job, the play remained exciting in a goalless middle frame. Daniel Oberkofler retook the Graz lead in the third and then the fans saw a thrilling final minute. First, Jesper Thörnberg scored another equalizer but with 27 seconds to go Oberkofler made the game safe for Graz with his second of the night.
