The record since the league was newly-founded dates back to November 4, 2012, when Zagreb and Graz combined for an incredible 289 penalty minutes in a memorable matchup. For the Styrians, the game ended early for Manuel Ganahl, among others, who is unbeaten with the 99ers in the current play-offs.

The most penalties in a playoff game were recorded in the 2012 semifinal between Zagreb and KAC: during Klagenfurt’s 4–0 away win, a total of 255 penalty minutes were issued, including a goalie fight between Robert Kristan and Andy Chiodo in front of 7,000 fans.

In Ljubljana, Pustertal got off to a perfect start with an early lead. The home team weakened themselves in the 15th minute when Robert Sabolič was sent off early. Late in the match, Olimpija received another major and a game misconduct against Alex Petan for cross-checking. Pustertal capitalized on the ensuing power play to seal a 3–0 victory. In a heated closing phase, tempers flared again—resulting in 236 penalty minutes and the toughest game of the current playoffs.
