For only the second time in Champions Hockey League history, the Final went to overtime. Jere Innala became the hero for the home side, who celebrated their fifth CHL crown in front of a sold-out crowd in Gothenburg. After a scoreless first period, Luleå earned the first power play of the game in the 30th minute — but it was the hosts who struck first. Nicklas Lasu gave Frölunda the lead with a shorthanded goal.

In the third period, Luleå immediately took control of the game and were rewarded when Eetu Koivistoinen deflected a shot from the blue line to make it 1–1. Shortly afterward, Frölunda responded on the power play and regained the lead at 2–1. In the closing minutes of regulation, Luleå pushed hard for the equalizer — and were rewarded. With just 16 seconds remaining, Otto Leskinen scored his first-ever CHL goal to force overtime.

In the overtime, Frölunda capitalized on another power-play opportunity. Innala converted a one-timer from the near faceoff circle, beating Ward glove side to seal the 3–2 win and the Champions Hockey League title for the 2025/26 season.
