There are eight games on the programme in the Alps Hockey League on Saturday. With HK SZ Olimpija, HC Pustertal and Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey three of the top four teams have home advantage, while HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice's winning streak will be put to the test at Hafro Cortina Hockey. In the race for the pre-play-off places, there are three direct duels.

Sat, 20.02.2021, 17:30: HK SZ Olimpija Ljubljana - Steel Wings Linz

For the second time in three days, league leaders Ljubljana will meet bottom side Linz. On Thursday, Olimpija prevailed 7:2 on the road, but the clear result only came in the final third. While the Upper Austrians have only celebrated one win this season, the Slovenians have won 16 of their 21 games. In the last four games they always scored at least six goals. With 39 points (13 goals, 26 assists) Miha Zajc is Olimpija's club-internal top scorer.

The Red Bull Hockey Juniors play Sterzing in Brixen today (Friday), followed by their next away game tomorrow against Asiago. The newly crowned Italian champions have won their last six AHL games, with Marco Rosa and Co. beating each Kitzbühel and Klagenfurt by 4:2 lately. Just under a month ago, the red-yellow team also celebrated a clear 6:1 victory in Salzburg. The fourth-placed Italians are four points ahead of the Juniors, who are one place behind them - but they have played one game less.

Lustenau and Sterzing are playing one after the other in the Alps Hockey League. While the Vorarlberg side squandered a win in the finish at Ritten on Thursday and suffered their fourth defeat in a row, Sterzing are first up against Salzburg this Friday. The South Tyroleans are currently in eleventh place in the table with 29 points from 21 games and are in the thick of the fight for the pre-play-off places. The EHC is in seventh place, but has recently lost touch with the top four. In the first duel of the season, Lustenau won 3:1 away from home.

In the duel between Kitzbühel and Fassa, important points are at stake in the race for the top 12. With seven points behind the pre-play-off spots, Kitzbühel is currently in 14th place. One position ahead of them is Fassa - the Falcons are currently only one point behind the twelfth-placed team from Val Gardena. During the week, both teams suffered defeats against top teams. Kitzbühel lost to Pustertal, Fassa was defeated by Ljubljana and Jesenice. In the first duel of the season just under a month ago, Fassa celebrated a 3:2 victory after overtime. The host team has won all eleven AHL duels so far.

Now it comes to the reunion on Saturday and VEU has the chance for immediate revenge. However, the Vorarlberg side have lost their last six away games and have only won one of their eight AHL games in Bruneck.

With two goals Markus Spinell turned the home match against Lustenau in favour of the 10th-placed Rittner Baum on Thursday. One place ahead is Bregenzerwald, who have lost three of their four games in February. Against Sterzing, Cortina and tomorrow's opponents Ritten, Juurikkala's team was in the lead for long stretches, but did not defend it until the final siren. The South Tyroleans won the first direct duel of the season 4:3 after shootout.

Jesenice won 2-1 at Fassa on Thursday - the Slovenians set a new club AHL best with their twelfth straight win. With eleven wins from 14 games, Jesenice is also the best away team in the league. The second-placed team's series will be put to the test on Saturday at Cortina. The Italians have won three of their last four AHL games and have also beaten league leaders Ljubljana. The sixth-placed team is currently seven points behind the top four, who qualify directly for the quarter-finals. In the first duel of the season, Jesenice won 3:2 at home.

After two clear defeats, Val Gardena bounced back with a 5:3 win in Klagenfurt on Thursday. Only two days later, the two teams will meet again - this time in Wolkenstein. For the Carinthians, it is already the eighth match within 24 days, they recently suffered three defeats. While Val Gardena still holds a pre-play-off spot in twelfth place, the team from Klagenfurt is eight points behind in 15th place. The KAC lost all of their previous five AHL away games against Val Gardena, even remaining without a single point.
