Nine games are on the schedule before the Alps Hockey League starts into a break. The top duo is facing lower ranked teams. With Wipptal Broncons Weihenstephan against HK Olimpija Ljubljana and HC Gherdeina against Rittner Buam, there are two battles of neighbors in standings.

Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey took the lead in standings on Thursday. But also HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice celebrated a win and climbed in the standings to 12th place. The gap to the top six are still six points for the Slovenians. Jesenice won the past four duels against Asiago. But this season Jesenice is playing with a much younger team.

In this duel two young Austrian teams are facing each other. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors are on the 14th place and the team of Vienna on place 17. These teams go highly motivated into an Austrian clash. It is the first duel of these teams in Alps Hockey League. The Juniors had to take a tough defeat in overtime against Jesenice after leading 4:1 already.

The EK Zeller Eisbären and the SHC Facca Falcons are only separated by one point in the standings. Both teams are below the red line. The Eisbären are trailing by five points and the Falcons by six points. The Eisbären won the past three duels against the Falcons.

The HC Gherdeina is currently on fire and won the past five games in Alps Hockey League. With these wins they surpassed the Rittner Buam and took the sixths place. The Buam are trailing by one point only – but they are the first team below the red line. So this duel could be already an important direct battle for the playoff-spots. Gherdeina never won against Ritten in Alps Hockey League.

Another Austrian clash on Saturday in Alps Hockey League. The Steel Wings Linz won one game in Alps Hockey League so far. Lustenau is recently having a winning streak coming with four consecutive wins to Linz. With that series they climbed up to the ninths place. But Linz already proved once, that they are able to surprise. The only win of Linz was against top-3 team Cortina.

The HC Pustertal had to leave the top position of the league on Thursday after losing against HC Gherdeina. Kitzbühel couldn’t win in the past four games and went down in standings to the 15th place. Pustertal won the four of five duels against Kitzbühel.

The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan already had some ups and downs in this season. After taking the leads in the first weeks of Alps Hockey League they fell down again. In the past game the Broncos captured three points and reentered the top-6. But Olimpija Ljubljana is still one point ahead after celebrating six consecutive wins. In thiis duel the ome team decided the games so far in history of AHL.

This is the third Austrian clash in Alps Hockey League. The EC-KAC 2 had a quite positive start into the Alps Hockey League capturing 16 points in 13 games. Bregenzerwald absolved one game less and is having eight points. But Bregenzerwald won the past four duels against the KAC 2 in Alps Hockey League.
