Full round on Monday: Ritten hosts league leader Jesenice in the top game

Three games are scheduled for today, Sunday, in the Alps Hockey League. Tomorrow, Monday, the action continues with a full round. Among others, the Ritten Buam SkyAlps will host league leader SIJ Acroni Jesenice in the top game. There will also be a top five clash between S.G. Cortina Hafro and EK Die Zeller Eisbären.

Both the Rittner Buam SkyAlps and SIJ Acroni Jesenice are in action on Sunday and Monday. The Slovenians are currently two points ahead of their closest rivals Zell am See in the table, while defending champions Ritten are in fourth place and five points behind Jesenice. The two teams have each won once in direct comparisons so far this season.

In the second clash between two top five teams, fifth-placed S.G. Cortina Hafro will host second-placed EK Die Zeller Eisbären. Both teams were last in action on Saturday. While Cortina clearly beat Unterland 5:1 to extend their lead over sixth-placed Sisak to seven points, Zell am See lost at home to Kitzbühel 2:3/SO. It was just one of three defeats from the past ten games for the “Polar Bears”. Cortina have been beaten in four of their last ten games. In the head-to-head, the home team has always been clearly victorious. In the first duel of the season, Zell am See won 4:1 in front of their home crowd, followed by a 6:0 home win for the Italians.

Sixth-placed KHL Sisak face HC Meran/o Pircher on Monday, who are in eighth place ahead of Sunday's games. For the South Tyroleans, the game in Croatia will be their second in 24 hours. On Sunday, they will host Celje. Meran have not won any of their last five games, while Sisak have won two of their last five encounters. In the head-to-head, both teams have won once each so far.

The Hockey Unterland Cavaliers will face HC Gherdeina valgardena.it in the South Tyrol derby. Both teams are not in action on Sunday. On Saturday, the Cavaliers were clearly beaten 1:5 by Cortina. It was their third 1:5 defeat in a row. In total, the ninth-placed team has been waiting for a win for four games. Gherdeina, on the other hand, beat Sisak 6:3 at home and celebrated one of two wins from their last five games. The “Furie” is now in twelfth place in the table. Val Gardena has been victorious against Unterland in both season duels so far.

After the 3:2/SO derby win against Zell am See, Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel will face the Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan on Monday. The South Tyroleans were not in action on Saturday, but will play in the derby against Ritten on Sunday. Both teams are currently in very good form. Third-placed Kitzbühel have won their last four games, while Sterzing have won four of their last five games. Overall, the seventh-placed team has won eight of its last ten games. However, the South Tyroleans didn´t win against Kitzbühel this season. So far, the “Eagles” have held the upper hand with 3:0 and 3:2.

In addition, HK RST Pellet Celje will host EC Bregenzerwald on Monday. Both teams are also in action on Sunday. Tenth-placed Celje are currently six games without a win. Eleventh-placed Bregenzerwald have won two of their last five games. In the head-to-head, the team from Vorarlberg has had the upper hand in both season duels so far.
