EK Die Zeller Eisbären suffered a clear 1–5 defeat in Thursday’s Salzburg derby against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, marking their second straight loss. With six points from four games, the reigning champion currently sits ninth in the standings. For Asiago, it will be the second game within 24 hours, as the Italian side faces EC Bregenzerwald on Friday. Prior to that game, Asiago have recorded two wins from five matches.

Kitzbühel faces league leader Sisak
Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel are also playing two games in 24 hours — after visiting Jesenice on Friday, they’ll travel to league leaders KHL Sisak on Saturday. The Croatian side currently holds a four-point lead over Kitzbühel and celebrated their fifth win in six games with a 3–1 road victory in Ritten on Thursday. Last season, Sisak won all three meetings against Kitzbühel.

Cortina hosts Ritten
Both S.G. Cortina Hafro and the Rittner Buam SkyAlps are struggling for consistency, having won just two of their last five games. On Thursday, Cortina lost 2–3 at home to Merano, while Ritten fell at home to Sisak. In the standings, Ritten currently sit sixth, two points ahead of seventh-placed Cortina. The Buam have found it difficult on the road, losing five consecutive away games across competitions. Last season, the two sides met seven times — Ritten won all five Alps Hockey League games, while Cortina claimed revenge in the Italian Serie A final, winning the series 2–0.

Merano aiming for back-to-back wins
The HC Meran/o Pircher pulled off a late comeback on Thursday, defeating Cortina 3–2 after trailing until the final minutes. For the South Tyrolean side, currently eighth in the standings, it was their first win after two consecutive losses. On Saturday, Merano face HDD Jesenice, who are already in action on Friday against Kitzbühel. The Slovenians have won just one of their five games so far. Against Merano, Jesenice won all three encounters last season convincingly.

Unterland looking to leave the bottom spot
The Hockey Unterland Cavaliers currently sit at the bottom of the standings with only one win in six games. Their Saturday opponent is EC Bregenzerwald, who have recorded two victories so far and play in Asiago on Friday. Unterland’s most recent game was also in Asiago, ending in a 1–4 loss. Against Bregenzerwald, the Cavaliers enjoyed success last season, winning four of five meetings.

In-Form teams meet: Gherdeina vs. Juniors
The HC Gherdeina valgardena.it are in excellent form, winning three straight games and climbing to second place in the standings with 12 points. Just one point behind are the Red Bull Hockey Juniors, who have also won their last two games, including a dominant 5–1 derby win against Zell am See on Thursday. Gherdeina narrowly beat Sterzing 2–1 in their latest outing. Last season, Gherdeina won three of the five head-to-head matchups between the two sides.
