Further roster movements in the ICE

On Monday August 10th, five teams announced further roster updates for the upcoming season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. While Vienna and Graz each presented their basic squad for 20/21, Bratislava, Fehérvár and Innsbruck each signed new players.

Vienna Capitals present basic squad
The spusu Vienna Capitals presented their first basic squad for the 2020/21 season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League. With captain Mario Fischer, a total of nine Austrians are already under contract. The two legionaries Ty Loney and Taylor Vause will also stay in Vienna. The goalie team consists of Austria's long-time team goalkeeper Bernhard Starkbaum and the 20-year-old up-and-coming talent Max Zimmermann.



Fehérvár brings Alex Petan back into the league
Hydro Fehérvár AV19 has provided Alex Petan with a contract for the coming season. The 2018 champion with HCB Südtirol Alperia was active in the DEL in the past season. Right in his first season in Europe, the now 28-year-old was awarded championship honors: He won the title in the former Erste Bank Eishockey League with the “foxes” 2018, scoring eight goals in the playoffs. "I am very pleased to be able to continue my career here at Fehérvár. Already in the first discussions clear season goals were defined with which I can fully identify myself", Petan said in a first statement.

Two defender for Bratislava
For their first season in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, iClinic Bratislava Capitals have strengthened their roster with the two Slovakian defenders Martin Chovan and Eduard Šedivý. The 33-year-old Martin Chovan finished the past season at HK Poprad. He previously played for HC Detva, where he was captain of the team for 44 games. In total, the experienced player played almost 500 first division games in Slovakia and recently also wore the national team's jersey. The second newcomer, Eduard Šedivý, has also already gained experience in the national team. He played 26 games for Slovakia. In the previous season he wore the jersey of city rivals HC Slovan Bratislava. In 55 season games he scored 24 scorer points. In addition to the two new signings, the ICE newcomer also fixed his first preseasn game, as Bratislava will take on HKM Zvolen on August 18th.

Kevin Tansey moves to Innsbruck
The HC TWK Innsbruck "Die Haie" has strengthened with Kevin Tansey. The Canadian defender was under contract with HC Orli Znojmo in the previous season. For the now 27-year-old it is his second season in Europe. Last season he played 34 games for Znojmo. He scored three goals and eleven assists.



Graz announced basic squad too
The Moser Medical Graz99ers announced the basic squad for the coming season too. This squad consists of 15 players. It has been known for some time that goalkeepers Felix Nussbacher, Kevin Moderer, Travis Oleksuk, Oliver Setzinger, Daniel Oberkofler, Julian Pauschenwein, Killian Rappold, Clemens Krainz, Erik Kirchschläger, Philipp Lindner and Amadeus Egger were given early contracts or had contracts for several years. Now the contracts with Charlie Dodero, Ken Ograjensek, Dominik Grafenthin and Lukas Kainz have also been extended. On the other hand, numerous import players are no longer part of the team. Cristopher Nihlstorp, Sebastian Collberg, Joakim Hillding, Kalle Johansson, Trevor Hamilton, Robin Weihager, Matt Garbowsky and Alexander Reichenberg have not been given new contracts. Dwight King will also no longer be part of the team. The two-time Stanley Cup winner was one of the figureheads of the 99ers in recent years. From the Austrian point of view, goalkeeper Thomas Höneckl and forward Zintis Zusevics are no longer in the Styrian squad.
