Salzburg took the lead in Game 4 once again: late in the first period, Schneider—recording his only point of the series—put the visitors ahead. Purdeller equalized in the middle frame. From then on, goaltenders Pasquale and Kickert took center stage, delivering outstanding performances and keeping the score tied at 1–1 deep into triple overtime. Shortly before midnight, the South Tyroleans finally prevailed, as captain Andergassen scored in the 106th minute in what became the fourth-longest game in league history.

The longest game in league history remains the quarterfinal clash on March 15, 2019, when Johannes Bischofberger netted the winner for EC-KAC after 120:51 against HCB Südtirol Alperia. Salzburg was also involved in the second- and third-longest games: in 2023, the Red Bulls lost in Bolzano after more than 115 minutes, while in 2015 they defeated Villach in the quarterfinals after more than 111 minutes.
