Giliati scores in narrow win for Asiago

In his first game for Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey, new signing Stefano Giliati was the match-winner. The 33-years-old forward, who most recently played for the HCB Südtirol Alperia in the bet-at-home ICE Hockey League, scored in the narrow 3:2 home win over the Red Bull Hockey Juniors to make it 2:2. He also made the assist for the game winning goal. Due to the win, Asiago moved up to the 2nd place in the standings.

After a narrow home defeat last Saturday against the EC Bregenzerwald, last year's finalist Migross Supermercati Asiago Hockey also struggled for a long time against the Red Bull Hockey Juniors. In front of 300 spectators, the home side took a 1:0 lead in the sixth minute through a goal by Samuele Zampieri. Still before the first period was over the guests from Salzburg, equalized by Tim Harnisch (17.).

Also in the middle period both teams scored once each. This time, the eighth-placed team from Austria took the lead. Joona Lehmus scored in the powerplay to make it 2:1. Then Stefano Giliati made his first appearance. The new signing from Asiago scored the equalizer in the 39th minute. In the final period, there was little action for a long time before the 33-years-old forward again showed all his skills. In the 57th minute, the left-shooter made the assist to Michele Marchetti's decisive goal in powerplay. Due to the narrow home win Asiago moves up to the second place in the standings. The next opponent of the 2018 AHL champions will be the BEMER VEU Feldkirch on Friday, September 24th. The Red Bull Hockey Juniors are already back in action on Thursday, September 23rd at league leader S.G. Cortina Hafro.
