The name Glen Hanlon is certainly a big name on the international ice hockey scene. As an ex-goaltender, he made 512 appearances in the NHL between the late 1970s and early 1990s in the jerseys of the Vancouver Canucks, St. Louis Blues, New York Rangers and Detroit Red Wings. He then began his long career as a coach, including four seasons as head coach of the Washington Capitals. His first experience in Europe followed in 2008 as coach of Jokerit in the Finnish Liiga. After a one-year stint with Dynamo Minsk in the KHL, Hanlon was back in Canada as well as Hungary and the DEL. Hanlon also coached various national teams. He was finally signed by Orli Znojmo on 9 November 2021 and led the team to the quarterfinals of the win2day ICE Hockey League.

"I've been following the ICE for several years, it's a fast and intense hockey game and I've always wanted to coach a team in this league," Hanlon said. "Last season was the first time I had the opportunity in Znojmo, but now I'm looking forward to the job in Bolzano: it's a club with a long tradition that always has the ambition to compete for the title, and at the same time it's an important location with real and passionate fans."

Knoll: "A coach with an international profile"
