After 22 league games, Olimpija Ljubljana sits at exactly 100 goals. The Slovenian side currently boasts the most powerful offense in Europe and is only the third team since the league was founded to surpass the 100-goal mark after 22 games. The only other teams to achieve this were KAC and VSV during the league’s premiere season 2000/01. Defender and the league’s second-highest scorer T.J. Brennan explains why everything is clicking for his team right now.

100 goals in just 22 games – previously only managed by EC-KAC and EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV. Back in 2000/01, KAC had already scored 122 goals at this stage, while VSV had 109. Twenty-five years later, Olimpija Ljubljana has repeated the feat with a 6-3 home win over Pustertal on Wednesday. Alex Petan scored 75 seconds before the final buzzer to make it 6-3 – and goal number 100. At the same time, the Slovenians surpassed the previously most prolific offense in Europe over the same number of games: DEL leader ERC Ingolstadt, who has 99 goals after 22 matches.

T.J. Brennan proud of the team’s achievements
Defender T.J. Brennan has 34 points, making him the second-best scorer for both Olimpija Ljubljana and the entire win2day ICE Hockey League, only behind teammate Nicolai Meyer with 37 points. Against Pustertal, the 36-year-old added another goal and two assists. While stats are not his priority, Brennan is enjoying the team’s impressive first half of the season: "I don’t really pay much attention to statistics; they don’t mean much to me personally. But I’m proud of how our team has come together, adapts, and rises to challenges – all while enjoying the process."

Victory over Pustertal especially valuable
The home win in the top matchup was particularly important for the American: "A win at home is always important – especially against the team in first place. We’ve had many players out for various reasons recently, and a lot of guys had to step into new roles and did it really well."

Nine games with five or more goals
The league’s most potent offense got off to a flying start, beating Vienna 8-1 and Villach 7-2 in the first two matches. Ljubljana scored fewer than three goals in only five matches, while in nine games they tallied five or more goals. "It’s been an exciting and challenging season so far. We’ve embraced every challenge, which shows our character and the strength of our group. That’s the foundation for the success people see from the outside. And the longer the season goes on, the more we want to keep that mindset and just have fun. We enjoy working together, supporting each other, and coming to the rink every day," Brennan said.

Top matchup against Graz on Friday
In the next top matchup, the league leaders host third-placed Moser Medical Graz99ers on Friday (19:15 / Sporteurope.tv). The teams are separated by just two points – Graz could leapfrog Ljubljana with a win and, if Pustertal loses to Vienna, even take over first place. Their first matchup of the season was a close contest, with Ljubljana winning 4-3 in overtime on the road. Graz has conceded only 51 goals so far, boasting the league’s best defense – making this clash sure to be intense. Brennan agrees: "Graz is a strong team, and I’m sure it will be an intense game. They’re playing very well and will try to reach the top of the table. We expect a tough battle – and we’re looking forward to it."
