Goalie duo extended in Salzburg

Both back-to-back playoff MVP Atte Tolvanen, as well as David Kickert, will remain the goalie duo of EC Red Bull Salzburg in the 2023/24 season. While Tolvanen already enters the third season for the Red Bulls, it is the second season for Kickert in the jersey of the champion of the win2day ICE Hockey League.

Atte Tolvanen came to Salzburg during the 2021/22 season, played 27 games in the regular season and finally celebrated the championship title with the Red Bulls in the playoff with eight appearances from the semifinals without defeat. He was subsequently honored with the league's playoff MVP for his outstanding performance.

In the final season of 2022/23, he continued his strong performance from the start and was honored as the win2day ICE Hockey League's best player of the playoffs (MVP) for the second consecutive season after winning the championship title again with the Red Bulls. In the postseason alone, he formed the basis for the Red Bulls' title defense with a strong catch rate of 94.6% in 16 games. Now the 28-year-old Finn has extended his contract with the Red Bulls and enters his third season in Salzburg.



David Kickert will also stay in Salzburg for another year. The lower Austrian, who grew up playing sports in Vienna, came to Salzburg last year and played 22 games in his first season with the Red Bulls with a save percentage of 91.6%. As of today, the 29-year-old is also on duty with the Austrian national team and is currently preparing for the World Cup in Finland in May at the training camp in Vienna.
