In a fast-paced first period both defensive units made a good job and the goalies kept a clean sheet. It took 28 minutes until Graz defender Robin Weihager broke the spell with a shot from the centre red line and Linz goalie David Kickert making a big mistake. Later in the period Rick Schofield tied it at one with a power play goal and early in the third it was again Schofield, who turned the game around. It looked like Linz could force a game 7 but Graz became more dangerous in a final push. With three minutes to go Weihager sent it to overtime with a PP marker. In the extra session Graz had the better of the play and Ty Loney decided it to the guest's favour after a great pass from Colton Yellow Horn. For the first time in Erste Bank Eishockey Liga history Graz went through to the next round. In the semis they face KAC.
