After a slow start, the Graz side came alive in the first period: Kevin Conley, Clay Hanus and Chris Collins scored within 71 seconds to make it 3:0. Graz extended their lead in the middle frame, with Erik Wittwer netting his first goal for the 99ers to make it 4:0 before Michael Schiechl, assisted by David Maier, made it 5:0. The hosts pulled one back on the power play, but Kevin Conley restored the six-goal cushion with his second of the night, making it 6:1 before the second intermission. Although Storhamar added two more goals in the third period, Graz held on comfortably and celebrated their first win in Europe’s elite ice hockey competition in their final CHL game.

The EC-KAC were missing seven players for their final CHL appearance of the season in Berlin, but put in a battling performance and came agonisingly close to earning a point. After a scoreless first period, the DEL champions took a 2:0 lead in the middle frame. The Carinthians pushed hard for a goal in the final period and got one in the 50th minute, when captain Thomas Hundertpfund buried his own rebound. The KAC even had further chances, but the game ended 2:1.
