Graz complete defensive unit with Norwegian defenseman

Bjørgvik-Holm spent eight years developing in North America, progressing through some of the continent’s top hockey programs. He was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the fifth round (145th overall) of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft. The defenseman spent four seasons with the Cleveland Monsters, the Blue Jackets’ AHL affiliate, including the past two campaigns.

On the international stage, Bjørgvik-Holm has already represented Norway at the senior level, appearing at the IIHF Ice Hockey World Championships in 2021 and 2023. During his junior career, he helped Norway win the IIHF U18 World Championship in 2017 before capturing U16 World Championship gold a year later. At the IIHF U20 World Championship four years ago, Bjørgvik-Holm finished as the tournament’s highest-scoring defenseman and was named Best Defenseman. Two years later, he led all defensemen in the ECHL in game-winning goals.

Jesse Seppälä joins the Pioneers
Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Seppälä arrives in Vorarlberg from Finland’s Liiga, bringing experience from one of Europe’s strongest hockey leagues. Born on January 7, 2002, in Espoo, Seppälä began his hockey career in the Espoo Blues youth system before joining the renowned development program of HIFK Helsinki. He progressed through every age category and eventually earned a place on the club’s senior team.

Seppälä made his Liiga debut as a teenager and has gone on to make numerous appearances in Finland’s top division over the past several seasons. He also gained valuable experience in Mestis, Finland’s second-highest league, where he consistently showcased his offensive abilities. At the junior level, Seppälä was regarded as one of the standout players of his age group for several years, earning opportunities to take the next step in his development through consistently strong performances.

Among the highlights of his career are appearances for Finland’s junior national teams and being selected by the Edmonton Oil Kings in the 2019 CHL Import Draft.
