A total of nine preseason games involving win2day ICE Hockey League teams were on the schedule on Friday. Among others, the Moser Medical Graz99ers celebrated a 4-1 victory over HC Slovan Bratislava in the Energie Steiermark Trophy. EC Red Bull Salzburg, on the other hand, suffered a narrow 3-4 defeat to EV Zug in the Red Bulls Salute. In the league duel between EC-KAC and the Vienna Capitals, the visitors from Vienna narrowly prevailed 3-2 after overtime. The Steinbach Black Wings Linz, Olimpija Ljubljana, FTC-Telekom, and the Pioneers Vorarlberg were also victorious.

1,818 fans attended the Moser Medical Graz99ers' game against Slovan Bratislava as part of the Energie Steiermark Trophy and saw an extremely strong performance from the home team. In the end, the 99ers prevailed 4-1 and will now face the Malmö Redhawks in the final on Saturday (7:30 p.m.), who didn't give the Kölner Haie a chance in their 4-1 victory. Lukas Haudum scored twice for Graz against Bratislava, while Chris Collins and Manuel Ganahl also got on the scoresheet.

Narrow defeat for Salzburg at Red Bulls Salute
EC Red Bull Salzburg suffered a narrow 3-4 defeat against EV Zug in the first semi-final match of the international invitational tournament Red Bulls Salute in Zell am See. In an exciting duel, both teams played strong hockey and thrilled the crowd right from the start of the tournament at the KE KELIT Arena in Zell. The Red Bulls were unlucky with the decisive goal, as the puck bounced off the shoulder of the Zug scorer into the goal. The Red Bulls' goals in front of 1,500 fans were scored by new signings Travis St. Denis and Connor Corcoran, as well as Lucas Thaler. In the game for third place, Salzburg will now face EHC Red Bull Munich, who lost 1-4 to Rögle BK, on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.

Vienna wins league duel in Klagenfurt
In the only league duel of the day, the Vienna Capitals narrowly prevailed 3-2/OT at EC-KAC. In front of over 1,800 fans at the Heidi Horten Arena, Dominic Hackl gave the visitors the lead in the first period. Carter Souch even increased the lead to 2-0 before the home team was able to equalize with goals from Daniel Obersteiner and Thimo Nickl. In overtime, Randy Gazzola finally sealed the victory for the visitors.

Linz defeats Slovakian top team Nitra
The Steinbach Black Wings prevailed 4-2 in an intense duel against HK Nitra. Despite numerous rough plays, the Upper Austrians remained focused and celebrated their second victory in their third test match—their first in front of a home crowd. Almost 1,900 fans attended the game at the LINZ AG Eisarena. The Black Wings' goals were scored by Emilio Romig, Graham Knott, Ryan MacKinnon, and Shawn St-Amant.

Victories also for Ljubljana, Budapest, and Vorarlberg
Olimpija Ljubljana, FTC-Telekom, and the Pioneers Vorarlberg were also successful on Friday. While the Slovenians defeated HC MONACObet Banska Bystrica 3-2/SO in the second of three test matches in Zvolen, Budapest prevailed against DVTK Jegesmedvek 6-3. The Pioneers, meanwhile, celebrated a 2-1 home win against the GCK Lions. EC iDM Wärmepumpen VSV and Hydro Fehérvár AV19, on the other hand, suffered defeats. Villach narrowly lost 4-5 to the Grizzlys Wolfsburg in Klagenfurt, while Fehérvár suffered a clear 1-8 defeat at BK Mlada Boleslav.
