Salzburg got off a great start, putting huge pressure on Graz from the first second on. After 61 seconds the leader made it 1-0, with Florian Baltram (2.) scoring a one timer. Some minutes later, Tim Harnisch (6.) doubled up after a one-on-one against Graz goalie Christian Engstrand.

After it was all Salzburg in the first, the guests managed to get some more stability in the second and first benefited on powerplay: With a two-man advantage Michael Boivin (30./PP2) fired it home to shorten the gap and not even two minutes later Ben Blood (32./PP1) tied it on seconds after another PP.

The game became more physical in the last, as Salzburg tried to retake the lead, gaining much more chances – all stopped by Christian Engstrand, who got Graz into overtime. There, Michael Boivin’s (65.) second of the night gave the eighth-ranked Styrian side a huge comeback win and destroyed Salzburg’s winning streak, as the six-time champion lost after nine in a row and for the first time since December 3rd (3:4 SO vs. PUS).
