Release from 07.08.2024
With a narrow 1:0 victory over SKN Sabres St. Pölten, the EC Graz Huskies secured the title in Austrian women's ice hockey for the first time in history, making them only the fourth club to be immortalized on the championship board after the Sabres, the Ravens Salzburg and last year's winners KSV Neuberg Highlanders. Bronze goes to the KEHV Lakers, who defeated the Highlanders 5:2.
The game-winning goal was scored in the 15th minute. Simona Grascher scored the golden goal after preparatory work by Lena Dauböck. The Huskies and Sabres fought a fierce battle for the entire 60 minutes, with Karla Kronberger proving insurmountable in the Styrian goal.
The Lower Austrians had a slight surplus of scoring chances in the first two periods, but were unable to get the disc over the line. The final period belonged to the Huskies, who broke the dams after 60 minutes and cheered endlessly.
The game for third place, which the KEHV Lakers won 5:2, was much higher scoring. KSV Neuberg Highlanders took an early lead and also went into the first break with a 1:0 lead. However, the Lakers seized the momentum in the middle third, taking a 4:2 lead and thus setting the course for victory.
