For the last open spot in their forward lines, Moser Medical Graz99ers have signed Josh Currie. After strong performances in the ECHL, the Canadian made the leap to the American Hockey League in the 2015/16 season—he has collected 250 points in a total of 400 AHL games. In the 2018/19 season, the center played 21 NHL games for the Edmonton Oilers, and a few years later he also made an appearance for Pittsburgh. After two seasons in the Russian KHL and another stint in the AHL, Currie signed a one-year contract with Cologne last summer, reaching the DEL final with the team.

Sporting director Philipp Pinter: “With Josh, we were able to strengthen our attack once again in an ideal way. He’s a dream player we’ve been following closely for a long time. Versatile, dangerous in front of goal, and above all strong in one-on-one battles—he’s proven all this for years in many top leagues. Individually, he can make the difference, but he always puts team success first. He fits in perfectly with our group, not just in terms of his playing style, but also his character.”

Cristiano DiGiacinto stays in Bolzano
HCB Südtirol Alperia has extended the contract of forward Cristiano DiGiacinto. The 29-year-old joined Bolzano in February 2024, impressed in his first playoffs, and developed into one of the team’s key players in the 2024/25 season: with 31 points (13 goals, 18 assists) in 48 games, he was the team’s fourth-best scorer and added four more assists in the playoffs. DiGiacinto won over the fans with his commitment and was awarded the “Gino Pasqualotto” fighting spirit prize. Starting next season, he will be eligible to play as an Italian due to his 16-month stay in Italy.

Cristiano DiGiacinto: “I love the city, I love the fans, I love being part of this team. I’m proud of my personal development over the past year, but I can’t wait to show the fans a new level of my game. I’m training hard, ready to come back and play my best hockey—to bring the cup to Bolzano. It’s our time, it has to be, and I want to play a decisive role in it.”
