Import Anthony Peters led Moser Medical Graz99ers as starting goalie on the ice against the quarterfinalist of the past Slovak championship. The Styrians were missing the injured Zalewski, Oberkofler, Pfeffer, Zusevics and Egger as well as Ken Ograjensek, who was recently playing for the Slovenian national team.

The first period ended up goalless, with Adis Alagic only hitting the bar close to the first break. Immediately after the restart, the guests took the lead. In their first powerplay, the Slovaks increased to 2:0, but then Graz also scored 5 on 4: Dominik Grafenthin to Simon Hjalmarsson, who found Andrew Gordon in the slot.

No more goals were scored in the final period. The 99ers let a 4-minute powerplay unused, Grafenthin failed in a 1-on-0 and even the exchange of Peters for the sixth skater in the final seconds did not bring the equalizer.
