Release from 16.09.2023
In all seven games of the season opener of the Alps Hockey League the home teams celebrated victories. The first league leader is EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel, who managed a spectacular 10:1 blow-out-win over HC Meran/o.
Sovereign start of the season for Ritten
The Ritten Buam SkyAlps scored a commanding opening win against HC Gherdëina valgardena.it. For the neo-Ritten goalie Colin Furlong, who met his ex-team on the very first day of play, this was a start made to measure. The Buam took a 3-0 lead in the first 23 minutes. Gherdeina reduced the lead in the final period, but could not get back into the match and finally had to admit defeat with 1:3.
Clear victory for Cavaliers
The Hockey Unterland Cavaliers were able to carry the momentum from the pre-season into the season opener. With a clear victory over the Klagenfurt Future Team, the Cavaliers are on the heels of the league leaders of the new season. From the start, Unterland controlled the match and earned a 3-0 lead already in the first period. The KAC did not come back into the match and finally had to accept a 1:7 defeat. Tobias Brighenti scored a brace on this evening.
Broncos turn around deficit against Linz
The Broncos celebrated a comeback win against the Steel Wings Linz AG in their opener. The hosts took the lead after just 90 seconds, but the Upper Austrians then initially turned the match around. A double strike by William Persson gave Linz the lead. But the Broncos' answer came promptly through Justin Maylan, who evened the match with his second goal. Still in the second period Sterzing provided the preliminary decision and finally prevailed 4:2.
Kitzbühel first league leader after blow-out win
EC Die Adler Stadtwerke Kitzbühel could not have dreamed of a better start to the season. Despite the injury of captain Henrick Hockfilzer, who could not be used, the Eagles stormed to a 10:1 victory over HC Meran/o. Already in the first period, the hosts set the tone with a 3:0. Among them was already a goal by Rafael Rotter, probably the most spectacular newcomer of the off-season in the league. It continued in the same style and the Eagles eventually prevailed 10-1. Chris Seto convinced with two goals and two assists, David Kreuter even managed four assists.
Champion starts season with derby win
After a two-year break, two Slovenian clubs are again represented in the Alps Hockey League. The first match was between champion Jesenice and league newcomer Celje. Jesenice did not miss a beat and won clearly with 6:1. Both Zan Spari Leben and Tjas Lesnicar scored a brace. Mikus Mintautiskis scored Celje's first goal in the Alps Hockey League.
Zell fights its way to victory against Lustenau
The EK Zeller Eisbären celebrated a 4:3 victory over EHC Lustenau in their season opener, which ended the Salzburgers' last two seasons. The hosts started the encounter with two power play goals. However, Lustenau then managed to equalize twice in the second period. When some fans were already expecting overtime, Christian Jennes provided the decision for Zell in the 57th minute.
Bregenzerwald celebrates victory over Salzburg
EC Bregenzerwald took the lead in the 13th minute against Red Bull Hockey Juniors at Messestadion Dornbirn. But the answer of Salzburg was not long in coming. In the second period, Daniil Kulintsev again put them in the lead. The Estonian was then also the one who ensured the decision with the emptynetter.
