The EC-KAC II, who was still without a win in the intermediate round, took the lead in his second home game in a row, which he played without seven regulars including goalie Florian Vorauer, by a goal from Valentin Hammerle in the 6th minute. But only ten seconds later the guests from Val Gardena equalized: Brad McGowan sent Matt Wilkins straight from the faceoff and he gave goalie Jakob Holzer no chance. Then the guests made their presence felt in the powerplay and Mikael Kurki (16th) shot in for the lead. About the middle of the game Wilkins could raise again, he got the puck from the KAC-defense perfectly served in front of the goal and notched it under the crossbar. Viktor Schweitzer then made the decision with a brace – both on powerplay, first with a wrist shot and then by rebound. The farm team of the Erste Bank Eishockey Liga champion, however, continued, acting courageously and shortening to the end by Philipp Kreuzer (45.) and Mark Kompain (54.).
