The HC Val Pusteria gained a 5:1 road win against Red Bull Hockey Juniors and remains unbeaten in the Alps Hockey League. The Wipptal Broncos Weihenstephan are ranked second, after they beat HDD SIJ Acroni Jesenice 4:3 in shootout. Moreover, the Rittner Buam and S.G. Cortina Hafro celebrated their first wins of the season.

The HC Val Pusteria Wolves has celebrated its second win of the season, after beating Red Bull Hockey Juniors on the road 5:1. The “wolves” remain unbeaten and captured the lead in Alps Hockey League. Markus Gander (10.) and a deflected shot of Teemu Virtala (15.) arranged a comfortable lead for the guests after 20 minutes. Caspar Evertsson (23.) reduced Salzburg’s deficit early in the second on a power play situation. It was Salzburg’s first goal of the season. Soon later the “wolves” decided the game in the middle frame by potting three more goals: Raphael Andergassen (27.) and a brace of Felix Brunner (29. and 36.) gave the Italian side a four-goal lead after 40 minutes. Despite much more chances in the last frame (10:3 shots on goal), Salzburg could not reduce the deficit.

Rittner Buam – EC KAC II 8:2 (1:1, 1:0, 6:1)

In the first period, the Rittner Buam managed to equalize the score in the final seconds thanks to the powerplay goal of captain Dan Tudin (300th goal with the Buam) despite a siege on the KAC-II net. Previously the Klagenfurt-II had opened the games with the goal of Thimo Nick always in powerplay. In the second half there was only the Oleg Sislannikovs goal. The home team then unlocked in the attack in the third time with six goals. Alex Frei, Kevin Fink and the double for both Imants Lescovs and Stefan Quinz for the triumph of the Ritten as they conquered the first three points. Markus Pirmann scored the second goal for Klagenfurt (double powerplay) for a less bitter passive.

Despite a good performance and a good pressure, the home team closed the first period down by 1: 0 thanks to the goal of Luka Besic. Also noteworthy was the injury to the face of Broncos Lukas Kofler, hit by a puck. In the second period the Wipptal attack was more precise. Daniel Erlacher equalized in powerplay in the first minutes. Then there was the Jure Sotlar show against his former team. First the Slovenian striker made the goal of the advantage with a nice shot and then he scored again with a touch of backhand after stealing a puck to the opponents. In the final minutes of the second period Jesenice tried to return in the match but they finalized during the third period with the goals of Tadej Cimzar ed Urban Sodja. The game finished in shutout after an overtime without goal. The decisive penalty was of Kyle Just.

S.G. Cortina Hafro – HC Fassa Falcons 3:1 (3:1, 0:0, 0:0)

The home team is the owner of the ice in the first minutes thanks to a great skating and good determination. Early goals in the opening frame will be decisive for Cortina to conquer the first victory. After 17 seconds played Sebastiano Soracreppa sat down in the penalty bench and after 19 seconds there was the first goal of the evening thanks to Riccardo Lacedelli. After another 72 seconds Nick Bruneteau doubled up the score of Cortina. Then Fassa answered with Diego Iori, last year in Cortina, but the home team re-established the distance with the former Falcons Devin Di Diomete. Then the game was more balanced until the first break. In the second period Fassa increased the pace on the distance and in the middle game was really dangerous. The Cortina resisted as Marco De Filippo saved any pucks. In the third frame the two teams didn’t scratch in the attack and the result remained for 3: 1 in favour of Cortina.
